The Third Court of Appeals is an intermediate court of appeals that hears appeals from Bastrop, Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Coke, Comal, Concho, Fayette, Hays, Irion, Lampasas, Lee, Llano, McCulloch, Milam, Mills, Runnels, San Saba, Schleicher, Sterling, Tom Green, Travis and Williamson Counties.
The court hears appeals from trial courts in the Third Judicial District in both civil and criminal cases.
The court consists of six Justices serving six year terms.
A lifelong Democrat, Rosa is a local Democratic party club member, and long-time union member.
Rosa has served the people of Travis County for close to fifteen years, as an Assistant District and County Attorney.
Rosa has successfully prosecuted more than twenty jury trials and dozens of appeals, civil and criminal.
With the help of family and friends, we collected hundreds of signatures in December, earning a place on the ballot in the Democratic Primary for the Third Court of Appeals of Texas, Place 4.
All three choices are good for voters in the contest for the nomination to, in all likelihood, flip the last GOP-held seat on the 3rd Court. Theofanis impressed us particularly with not only her command of, but her love for, the quirky world of appellate law, the things that make serving on this intermediate bench such an important role as a bulwark for Central Texans and their values against the hostile state government and its compliant high courts.
Rosa Lopez Theofanis garnered 49 percent of the votes in the Democratic Primary on March 2, 2022, after which both Beth Payán and Paula Knippa endorsed Rosa, uniting the party behind her candidacy, and making Rosa the Democratic nominee for 3rd Court of Appeals, Place 4
